A big “way to go!” shout out to our newly minted tailwheel pilot. John Keegan is the first recipient of our Jason Brown Memorial Scholarship. He put the funds to good use flying with most of our tailwheel instructors. He immediately went for a solo flight after our Chief Instructor Jen signed his tailwheel endorsement. He’s well on his way to the goal of becoming a backcountry pilot.

Hip-hip hooray! Kenny’s friends can now call him a “real aviator” after earning his tailwheel endorsement today with our Chief Instructor Jen. She put Kenny, who is an AeroDynamic Aviation CFI, through his paces to earn the privilege of flying taildraggers. He met her high standards in windy conditions for 3-point, wheel, short- and soft-field landings. Way to go, Kenny!
Parisian Pilot’s Taildragger Trip
Jan 14 2015We recently had the pleasure of hosting a Parisian Pilot with a thirst for taildraggers. Olivier Barloy visited from Paris to try out the art of taildragging.
He flew every member of our Champion family with several of our instructors. Citabrias with Grainne, Kendall, Mark and Jim, the Decathlon for some spins, loops and rolls with Jim, and at the end the classic 1946 Aeronca Champ with Zdravko.
A perfect final flight for a week of taildragger adventures. Olivier more than earned his tailwheel endorsement!
