First Solo Flight – Adnan Pratama
Jan 31 2018Aircraft: Citabria N2508Z
Instructor: Logan Wright
Location: San Jose, CA (KRHV)
Solo Date: January 15, 2018
Citabria Zero-Eight-Zulu solos its first student pilot with us! We love seeing tailwheel student pilots take to the air with an empty backseat, and Adnan did an excellent job navigating the traffic pattern at Reid-Hillview with proud CFI Logan watching from the side of the runway. Get ready, Adnan, the checkride isn’t far away now!
First Solo – Jess White
Jan 31 2018Aircraft: Citabria N9091L
Instructor: Logan Wright
Location: San Jose, CA (KRHV)
Solo Date: December 31, 2017
What a way to bring in 2018. Congrats to Jess and Instructor Logan on achieving a first solo in a taildragger!
“I’ve always loved aviation since I was a child, and always drawn toward the skies. So, I started flying with Logan Wright at Aerodynamic about a year ago, and it’s been nothing but a blast. I’ve loved every minute of it and it feels great to be following my passion.
My plan for after I get my private, is to continue to keep getting more training and experience. I want to go on and get my instrument and commercial, and I would love eventually be able to make flying profitable in different ways.
Flying at Aerodynamic has been wonderful. I’ve been at other flight schools before, that don’t even come close to the quality that you guys have as a school.” ~Jess
New Private Pilot – Adam Lantos
Nov 30 2017Date: November 24, 2017
Instructor: Jason Brown
Certification: Private Pilot
Woohooo! Congrats to Adam for earning his Private Pilot License. He didn’t just earn his PPL, he earned it in a taildragger. Adam began his flight training primarily with David Pease and did a bit of training with our Chief Instructor Jen. But a big thanks goes to CFI Jason for helping Adam cross the finish line and receive a first-time pass with Examiner Scott. Nice!

Instructor: Lynzie Hudson
Location: San Jose, CA (KRHV)
Welcome to the world of taildraggers, Dave! We can call you a ‘real aviator’ now. Today is also Dave’s birthday! Don’t worry, we won’t tell anyone how young you are 😉 Make sure you wish Dave a Happy Birthday today and congratulate him on earning his tailwheel endorsement. For those of you who don’t know him, Dave is usually found working on airplanes in our hangar. Congrats on your most recent achievement!
First Solo Flight – Gary Hethcoat
Oct 03 2017Solo Date: September 16, 2017
Aircraft: Citabria 7ECA
Instructor: Batelle Rachmian
Location: San Jose, CA (KRHV)
Time to cut the tails off another shirt! Congrats to Gary and instructor Batelle for soloing in a taildragger.
“Had my first solo today! I’ve been a huge airplane nut all my life. I designed built and flew R/C models for 30 years. It’s been a life-long dream to learn to fly! Many thanks to my awesome instructor Batelle!” ~ Gary
First Solo Flight – Vasu Murthy
Aug 15 2017Solo Date: August 12, 2017
Aircraft: Citabria 7ECA
Instructor: David Pease
Location: San Jose, CA (KRHV)
Another taildragger pilot flies out of the nest! Vasu took to the skies from each of the parallel runways, 31R and 31L, at Reid-Hillview Airport with instructor David watching from below. Vasu also trained with Batelle and Jason, so he’s got the skills to take a Citabria up for a flight with an empty back seat. Congrats on all your hard work!
Tailwheel Endorsement – Hamish Kebbell
Jul 27 2017Aircraft: Citabria 7KCAB
Instructor: Batelle Rachmian
Location: San Jose, CA (KRHV)
Australian pilot and traveler, Hamish came to AeroDynamish once again to do some fun flying. In previous years he flew our Cessna 172RG complex aircraft. This time he earned his tailwheel endorsement on July 17th with Batelle and took N1701H on a 30-hour cross-country trip north. Sounds like the right way to spend 10 days of vacation! Thanks for flying with us!
New Private Pilot – Craig Reid
Jul 26 2017Date: July 18, 2017
Instructor: Jason Brown
Certification: Private Pilot
“Ever since I was a kid and had the opportunity to fly in a Cessna with my parents friends in Wisconsin and my uncle over the Chicago skyline, I developed an early appreciation and desire to fly. It took a couple decades to finally find the time and the money to pursue flying. From the outside the skills and understanding needed to be a pilot always seemed daunting and complex. Throughout the ongoing learning process, the one thing that surprises me was how the overwhelming complexity melts away and the skill set begins to take shape piece by piece, from one lesson to the next. Many thanks to all of the folks at Aerodynamic for your ability to make the complex understandable and the learning really fun (now I get why my 5 year old daughter likes school… at least for now). Next for me is to continue exploring the world of aviation, the earth from above, and the destinations available by aircraft.” ~ Craig

New Private Pilot – Ivan Wong
Jul 15 2017Date: July 10, 2017
Instructor: Batelle Rachmian
Certification: Private Pilot
“I’ve been wanting to fly since I was a little kid, but I never took the initiative to start training because I made excuses about not having enough money, and then enough time…until last year. It’s really changed my life, and I can’t thank Batelle, David, and everyone at Aerodynamic enough. It’s a great community here.

Tailwheel Endorsement – Griffin Swarz
Jul 13 2017Aircraft: Aeronca Champ
Instructor: Jason Brown & Grainne Gilvarry
Location: San Jose, CA (KRHV)
Griffin was flying at a nearby school and almost had his tailwheel endorsement when his instructor unfortunately pushed the airplane into the hanger wall, ripping the fabric. He was on a deadline for a glider towing opportunity and we were able to finish up his tailwheel training just in time, thanks to the quick work of instructors Jason and Grainne. Go team!
