Toyota Financial Group visits Monterey!
Jul 26 2017AeroDynamic Aviation sends a big “thank you” to Toyota Financial Group for an awesome introductory flight event. We had twelve of our airplanes and 13 of our instructors on a gorgeous blue-sky day at our Monterey location. Each of the participants had a different favorite moment but all expressed their appreciation for the professional instructors that delivered an experience they will never forget. They have already booked next year, and we can not wait for the next event!
A special thanks to our flight instructors for all their hard work and adventurous spirit (Jim, Jason, David, Batelle, Lynzie, Ron, Larry, Adam, Kendall, Jamie, and Carol) and Paul Tanks for an informative one-hour ground school for our first-time student pilots, 16 in all. Way to pull together, team!

First Solo Flight – Josh Bellinger
Dec 22 2016Solo Date: December 12, 2016
Aircraft: Cessna 172
Instructor: Jamie Redding
Location: Monterey, CA (KMRY)
Congrats to Josh on his first solo flight! Instructor Jamie watched from below as Josh flew full-stop takeoffs and landings at Monterey’s class C airport.
“I grew up in Monterey and studied civil engineering at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo. I worked as a structural engineer after graduation from college, got my engineering license, and eventually became a project manager for a local general contractor. My interest in flying began in 2014, just for fun, and then eventually, I got hooked! My plan is to continue training for my private pilots license. If all goes well, I would like continue my training further. Originally, I wanted to fly so that I could visit family. Now, I just love to fly because it is so much fun. Everyone in the flying community has been very supportive, and I am so very grateful to everyone at Aerodynamic Aviation whom has helped me on my journey into aviation.” ~ Josh
First Solo Flight – Dale Friday
Nov 07 2016Solo Date: November 2, 2016
Aircraft: Cessna 172
Instructor: Chris Laird
Location: Monterey, CA (KMRY)
Woooohoooo! After working so diligently to fulfill his life-long dream of being a pilot, Dale flew an aircraft all by himself out of Monterey’s class Charlie airspace with Instructor Chris and some of the Monterey AeroDynamic family watching in support. In the long-held solo tradition, Dale’s instructor cut his shirttail off and autographed it in remembrance of this first solo flight. Congrats to both of them on this accomplishment. You’re almost there, Dale!!
AeroDynamic Aviation makes AOPA’s Honor Roll!
Oct 27 2016AERODYNAMIC AVIATION
RECOGNIZED FOR FLIGHT TRAINING EXCELLENCE BY AOPA
The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA), the world’s largest aviation association, has recognized AeroDynamic Aviation for its high standard of accomplishment in flight training. The flight school has been awarded a spot on the 2016 Flight Training Excellence Awards Honor Roll, a title given to high scoring flight schools from AOPA’s annual flight training poll.
AOPA’s Flight Training Excellence Awards were created to highlight the best flight training the industry has to offer. “This year’s winners are great examples of high quality and effective flight training. The recognition is well deserved,” said Chris Moser, AOPA’s senior manager of flight training initiatives. “The Flight Training Excellence Awards were created to recognize best practices in flight training—excellent customer service, quality education, community development, and sharing knowledge. We are excited to spotlight their excellent work.”
The 2016 awards were drawn from flight students and pilots who voluntarily reviewed their flight training experience last summer through an AOPA online poll. The process yielded an evaluation of 789 different flight schools and 1,515 individual flight instructors.
AeroDynamic would like to thank all its students, renters and flight instructors who worked hard for this honor and nominated us. Thanks to them, we also recently earned Cloud9 Living’s Legendary Experience Provider Award and Best of Groupon. You are all appreciated!
AeroDynamic Aviation began flight training in 1960 in San Jose and expanded to Salinas and Monterey within the last decade. This historic school began as Amelia Reid Aviation and continues to operate with vintage, tailwheel, aerobatic, tricycle-gear, complex and multi-engine aircraft. Their Monterey location recently earned the title of Cirrus Training Center as well. After nailing Eights-on-Pylons and the infamous Power-off 180, Gordon is now able to fly for hire! In fact, we just hired him to fly tours out of Monterey 🙂
Congrats on all your hard work. Now…on to the CFI!
Cirrus Checkout – Ryan Radcliff
Sep 01 2016He’s drinking the Kool-Aid! Former Cirrus-pilot-turned-Bonanza-owner and Commercial pilot Ryan Radcliff recently came to Monterey while his Bonanza BE36TC is in the shop for paint and annual. Ryan reacquainted himself with the SR20 and transitioned to the new Garmin Perspective. His plans include a flight to Catalina and maybe a few hops over to his condo in Mammoth. Have fun!

Dan purchased the Cirrus SR20 in February and finished training for his Private Pilot license in the new plane. He travels often, and being able to fly allows him flexibility to meet clients and still be home for dinner with his wife and daughter. After a bit of relaxing and pleasure flying, Dan plans to continue on with instrument training.
