New Private Pilot – Bentley Mundle
Jan 05 2019Date: December 18, 2018
Certification: Private Pilot
Instructors: Martin, Jamie & Ben
Aircraft: Cessna N53456
Another Monterey pilot earns their wings with DPE Eric Cook! Congrats to Bentley and his instructors on a job well done.
“Growing up I always had a fascination with aviation and thought my Dad had the coolest job as a pilot for United Airlines. The timing of graduating high school, 9/11, and the down turn in the aviation industry led me to follow in the footsteps of both of my grandfathers as a PGA Professional. Ten plus years later I still think my Dad has the coolest job and I’m excited to make a career change and chase my childhood dream of becoming a professional pilot!” ~ Bentley

Three teenage pilots take to the sky!
Aug 01 2018One of our recent graduate’s mom snapped this photo of three 17-year-old Aerodynamic students (2 newly licensed private pilots and 1 student pilot) departing out of Monterey airport. Adam Shapiro is in the left seat, Katrina Espinoza is in the right (his safety pilot) and Sophia Taylor-Home is in the back seat. If you look closely, you can actually see clear silhouettes of 3 people inside the plane.
Adam earned his Private Pilot with us in Monterey back in December 2017. Katrina earned her license at our Reid-Hillview location in June 2018 thanks to a generous scholarship from AOPA (she won their High School scholarship in 2016 for $5000) and another scholarship from the 99s in 2018. Sophia is a current student pilot working hard to get to solo.
We are so proud of you all! This next generation of pilots work hard for their successes and prove you are never too young or too old to go after your dreams. We wish you all the best in your aviation careers!

Certification: Private Pilot
Instructor: Jamie Redding
What were you doing on your 17th birthday? Very few people could answer that they were taking the checkride for their Private Pilot License, let alone doing so well they impressed the FAA examiner. But that is exactly what 17-year-old Adam did last Friday. What an incredible achievement for one so young. We are happy to have been able to give you your first set of wings, Adam, and wish you so much luck in life.

New Private Pilot – Robert Knight
Sep 14 2017Date: September 9, 2017
Instructor: Jen Watson
Certification: Private Pilot
A huge congratulations to Robert for passing his Private Pilot checkride with examiner Eric. Robert and his instructor, Jen, flew his Cirrus SR22 Turbo down to Paso Robles on Saturday afternoon and returned to Monterey later that evening with a pilot certificate in hand. Robert owns an art gallery in Monterey and came to AeroDynamic with a background in parasailing. He bought his Cirrus after a few months of training in our Cessnas and plans to travel quite a bit. In fact, he already flew his girlfriend to a baseball came in San Francisco! He plans to continue on to an Instrument Rating after a short break to enjoy his new license. Happy flying 🙂

Toyota Financial Group visits Monterey!
Jul 26 2017AeroDynamic Aviation sends a big “thank you” to Toyota Financial Group for an awesome introductory flight event. We had twelve of our airplanes and 13 of our instructors on a gorgeous blue-sky day at our Monterey location. Each of the participants had a different favorite moment but all expressed their appreciation for the professional instructors that delivered an experience they will never forget. They have already booked next year, and we can not wait for the next event!
A special thanks to our flight instructors for all their hard work and adventurous spirit (Jim, Jason, David, Batelle, Lynzie, Ron, Larry, Adam, Kendall, Jamie, and Carol) and Paul Tanks for an informative one-hour ground school for our first-time student pilots, 16 in all. Way to pull together, team!
First Solo Flight – Joonwoo Cho
Jul 13 2017Solo Date: July 10, 2017
Aircraft: Cessna 172
Instructors: Ron Vlastelica
Location: Monterey, CA (KMRY)
Helicopter pilot, Joonwoo, came to our Monterey flight school to earn his fixed-wing airplane Private Pilot License (PPL). He’s making short work of the transition, as he just completed his first solo in Monterey and second solo in Salinas. Checkride is coming fast and he is rising to the challenge. Joonwoo will soon head back to South Korea for more flying. We love seeing your progress!
New Multi-Engine Pilot – JP O’Dell
Mar 09 2017Date: March 3, 2017
Instructor: Jen Delp-Mallet
Certification: Multi-Engine Private Pilot
After recently earning his instrument rating with us, Monterey-based pilot JP O’Dell mastered our Twin Comanche in just 12 short hours and passed his checkride on the first attempt! Despite being a full-time student and avid athlete, JP made time to study the Twin Comanche’s systems, emergencies, and engine-inop procedures. JP plans to continue on to a career in aviation (hopefully becoming a CFI for us), but for now the lucky 19-year-old has access to fly a Beechcraft Baron for a number of hours while he works toward his Commercial Pilot License.
Try to avoid shutting down an engine anytime soon, and we will see you in a few months for that next pilot certification.

First Solo Flight – Josh Bellinger
Dec 22 2016Solo Date: December 12, 2016
Aircraft: Cessna 172
Instructor: Jamie Redding
Location: Monterey, CA (KMRY)
Congrats to Josh on his first solo flight! Instructor Jamie watched from below as Josh flew full-stop takeoffs and landings at Monterey’s class C airport.
“I grew up in Monterey and studied civil engineering at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo. I worked as a structural engineer after graduation from college, got my engineering license, and eventually became a project manager for a local general contractor. My interest in flying began in 2014, just for fun, and then eventually, I got hooked! My plan is to continue training for my private pilots license. If all goes well, I would like continue my training further. Originally, I wanted to fly so that I could visit family. Now, I just love to fly because it is so much fun. Everyone in the flying community has been very supportive, and I am so very grateful to everyone at Aerodynamic Aviation whom has helped me on my journey into aviation.” ~ Josh
New Instrument Pilot – JP O’Dell
Dec 22 2016Date: November 27, 2016
Instructor: Anton Salameh
Certification: Instrument Rating
After studying with his father, an airline pilot and flight instructor, JP polished off his instrument skills with our Monterey instructor, Anton, who is also an airline pilot. According to the examiner, JP nailed his checkride on the first try. Way to go, JP! He plans to continue on to multi-engine so he can build PIC time in a family friend’s Baron, then add single-engine commercial and multi to his aviation belt. We are happy to help you in your journey.
