First Solo Flight – Vasu Murthy
Aug 15 2017Solo Date: August 12, 2017
Aircraft: Citabria 7ECA
Instructor: David Pease
Location: San Jose, CA (KRHV)
Another taildragger pilot flies out of the nest! Vasu took to the skies from each of the parallel runways, 31R and 31L, at Reid-Hillview Airport with instructor David watching from below. Vasu also trained with Batelle and Jason, so he’s got the skills to take a Citabria up for a flight with an empty back seat. Congrats on all your hard work!

Aug 14 2017San Francisco Bay Tour
Joey, a 17-year-old student pilot, flew with his mom, Ana, and flight instructor Lynzie on an introductory flight around the gorgeous San Francisco Bay! Joey has already flown 3 flights and is keen to do more. He’s going back to school next week and wanted to get one more flight in. He plans to attend ground School with Aerodynamic next session.

New Commercial Pilot – Nishant Veluthedath
Aug 03 2017Date: July 28, 2017
Instructor: Ron Vlastelica
Certification: Commercial Pilot
On Friday, Nishant met with Vince Nastro in Tracy. Nishant had previously done both his private and instrument ratings with Vince. The day started out with light winds and cooler temperatures. By the time the flight portion started around 1330, the temperature was 33 degrees C. Winds were picking but under 10kt. When they arrived back for their landings and 180 engine-out, the winds were 270 at 18 with gusts to 24 kt.

New Private Pilot – Dave Heckel
Jul 28 2017Date: July 26, 2017
Instructor: David Waksberg
Certification: Private Pilot
Most of you know Dave from his many hours working in the hangar with Josh. Not only is Dave working toward his Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) mechanic’s certificate, he also just earned his Private Pilot License!
“As most of you know, this has been a long time coming for me. Thank you to everyone for the support I have received over the last couple of years.
To the CFI’s who have pushed me along in the airplanes go my biggest thanks. Lynzie, for sticking with me since the beginning. Jason and Jen for putting up with my flakiness. David for getting me through the final push to the checkride, a REAL adventure. Awesome, one and all.
Special thanks to Josh and Jen for my second home at Aerodynamic.
Now I can do some fun flying including tailwheel and acro. I also have a list of family and friends I am looking forward to flying with.” ~ Dave

First Solo Flight – Dominic Palazotto
Jul 27 2017Solo Date: July 26, 2017
Aircraft: Cessna 172
Instructors: Jason Brown
Location: San Jose, CA (KRHV)
A big yaaahoooo for Dominic, who flew an airplane by himself at Reid-Hillview airport yesterday under the watchful eye of Instructor Jason. It’s an amazing thing to take off by yourself in an airplane and suddenly realize it is all on you to get back on the ground safely. There is no instructor there to help you make a good landing, just your hours of training and their voice in your head telling you “stay on centerline, flare gently, just a little more back pressure, good!” And the success of such a flight is evident on Dominic’s face next to N915L right after his first solo flight. Nicely done!
Tailwheel Endorsement – Hamish Kebbell
Jul 27 2017Aircraft: Citabria 7KCAB
Instructor: Batelle Rachmian
Location: San Jose, CA (KRHV)
Australian pilot and traveler, Hamish came to AeroDynamish once again to do some fun flying. In previous years he flew our Cessna 172RG complex aircraft. This time he earned his tailwheel endorsement on July 17th with Batelle and took N1701H on a 30-hour cross-country trip north. Sounds like the right way to spend 10 days of vacation! Thanks for flying with us!
Toyota Financial Group visits Monterey!
Jul 26 2017AeroDynamic Aviation sends a big “thank you” to Toyota Financial Group for an awesome introductory flight event. We had twelve of our airplanes and 13 of our instructors on a gorgeous blue-sky day at our Monterey location. Each of the participants had a different favorite moment but all expressed their appreciation for the professional instructors that delivered an experience they will never forget. They have already booked next year, and we can not wait for the next event!
A special thanks to our flight instructors for all their hard work and adventurous spirit (Jim, Jason, David, Batelle, Lynzie, Ron, Larry, Adam, Kendall, Jamie, and Carol) and Paul Tanks for an informative one-hour ground school for our first-time student pilots, 16 in all. Way to pull together, team!
New Private Pilot – Craig Reid
Jul 26 2017Date: July 18, 2017
Instructor: Jason Brown
Certification: Private Pilot
“Ever since I was a kid and had the opportunity to fly in a Cessna with my parents friends in Wisconsin and my uncle over the Chicago skyline, I developed an early appreciation and desire to fly. It took a couple decades to finally find the time and the money to pursue flying. From the outside the skills and understanding needed to be a pilot always seemed daunting and complex. Throughout the ongoing learning process, the one thing that surprises me was how the overwhelming complexity melts away and the skill set begins to take shape piece by piece, from one lesson to the next. Many thanks to all of the folks at Aerodynamic for your ability to make the complex understandable and the learning really fun (now I get why my 5 year old daughter likes school… at least for now). Next for me is to continue exploring the world of aviation, the earth from above, and the destinations available by aircraft.” ~ Craig
