First Solo Flight – Jenna Graham
Oct 18 2022Solo Date: October 7, 2022
Aircraft: Citabria N990WY
Instructor: Scott Williams
Location: San Jose, CA (KRHV)
A female taildragger pilot slipped the surly bonds of her flight instructor and ascended into the sky to experience the freedom of flying solo. Considering the student pilot is an amazing woman who leads firefighters, we are overjoyed to honor the accomplishment of earning a tailwheel endorsement to solo. She is a student pilot working diligently to become a Private Pilot in our Citabrias. Jenna, there’s seems to be nothing you can’t master. We are proud to be part of your pilot journey. Try not to leave Scott in the dust once you get there 😉

Congrats to Bohao on his first time flying solo! He took Cessna One-Two-Two-Three-Four for the obligatory laps in the pattern at Reid-Hillview Airport while proud CFI Skyler supervised from below. Now on to those fun cross-country flights and night flying over the sparkly bay area.
First Solo Flight – Han Luo
Sep 20 2022Solo Date: September 10, 2022
Aircraft: Cessna N54102
Instructors: Skyler Tan
Location: San Jose, CA (KRHV)
FAA Gold Seal instructor Skyler Tan is doing an excellent job empowering and finishing his students before he heads off to be an airline pilot with Skywest. Another of his students hits a milestone with a first time solo at Reid-Hillview airport. Cessna 54102 is staying busy with these fast-paced student pilots. Congrats, Han!
First Solo Flight – James Gemmel
Sep 20 2022Solo Date: September 11, 2022
Aircraft: Cessna N61637
Instructor: William Sun
Location: San Jose, CA (KRHV)
A big shout out to James on his first solo flight! He’s worked incredibly hard at making it to this milestone and we are very happy for his success. It was also a first for his instructor, as James was CFI William’s first student endorsed for solo flight. Way to nail it on both accounts! We adore the look of happiness on both their faces as they honor the traditions of cutting the shirt tails.
First Solo Flight – Sunny Haight
Sep 20 2022Solo Date: September 5, 2022

First Solo Flight – Ann Yun
Sep 19 2022Solo Date: September 4, 2022
Aircraft: Cessna N61253
Instructor: Scott Holland
Location: San Jose, CA (KRHV)
Whoot Whoot! Another bird spreads her wings to fly solo for the first time. Like a proud papa, CFI Scott watched student pilot Ann make her first 3 takeoffs and landings without him sitting beside her. Nicely done, you two!
First Solo Flight – Siyuan Zhang
Sep 11 2022Solo Date: September 1, 2022
Aircraft: Cessna N61637
Instructor: Nir Chen
Location: San Jose, CA (KRHV)
Another one leaves the nest! We are so proud of all our solo student pilots. CFI Nir watched as Siyuan made his first laps around the traffic pattern without him. Siyuan is making quick work of his private pilot training, and we expect to see him holding his certificate before too much longer.
