Another fledgling leaves the nest! It must be the coming autumn. Justin Hand escaped from his instructor Erik Schmidt today and soloed Citabria 9091L.

Thanks also to Laura’s instructor, Erik Schmidt, with several others helping to give Laura the flight time she needed before leaving for the East Coast tomorrow!

New Taildragger Pilot: Akihiko Chiba

Cingratulations to Akihiko Chiba who earned his tailwheel endorsement in a Citabria. Akihiko is already a pilot both of airplanes and gliders, and he came all the way from Japan to fly taildraggers with us.

Going Solo: Derek Allen

First fledgling of July! On a warm July day, Derek Allen took his first solo flight under the careful supervision of AeroDynamic CFI Sergey Sinyachkin. Derek is training with Erik Schmidt, and Sergey stepped in when Erik had to go on a trip. We have videos of both the takeoff and landing. Here’s the takeoff:

New Taildragger Pilot: Loree Hirschman

Congratulations to Loree Hirschman who added tailwheel skills to her repertoire. Loree was a Naval Aviator, flying F-18s and S-3s off carriers in the Persian Gulf, and then switched to civilian life, but she still loves flying and being a pilot. We are delighted that she chose us to get her tailwheel training.
