Fred came to AeroDynamic Aviation to finish his Private Pilot training. He not only earned his license on the first attempt with Eric Cook, he passed with flying colors! He plans to continue on with our Mountain Flying Course, Complex Aircraft Checkout, and eventually move on to Instrument Rating. His Instructor Jen could not be more proud of all his hard work and determination to follow his dreams. Way to go, Fred!

In his own words, “I am Yi Shi, a student of AeroDynamic school, who has just finished 4-month training class and got my license last week. Before entering this school, I had some hours of flying experience, but the success and final outcome of my achieving required lots of guidance and assistance from many people from this school whom I am extremely fortunate to fl with all along the completion of my flying work.
A special thank of mine would go to Eric and Jim, who have provided nice nonstop support to me and helped me most in the whole process. They are experienced pilots who are always willing to share and exchange interesting aviation stories with me. For a young person, their pragmatic advice and authentic guidance are really precious. I would also like to express my profound gratitude to all the staff in AeroDynamic for their necessary information and prompt assistance within such a well-developed flight system. First Solo Flight – Dale Friday

Woooohoooo! After working so diligently to fulfill his life-long dream of being a pilot, Dale flew an aircraft all by himself out of Monterey’s class Charlie airspace with Instructor Chris and some of the Monterey AeroDynamic family watching in support. In the long-held solo tradition, Dale’s instructor cut his shirttail off and autographed it in remembrance of this first solo flight. Congrats to both of them on this accomplishment. You’re almost there, Dale!!
First Solo Flight – Chuang Wang

It’s not every day one solos an aircraft, and even fewer get to enjoy the moment on a fair California Saturday afternoon the way Chuang did. After beginning his training in July, Chuang has a progressed quickly to solo at our San Jose location, tackling his first flight alone on a busy Saturday at Reid-Hillview airport. He comes from China originally and plans to travel and fly just for the pure fun of it. Instructor David is moving him toward Private Pilot certification so he can achieve this goal. Keep up the good work!
New Private Pilot – Dustin Liu

Dustin begin his training with Instructor Lynzie Hudson. When she went on leave, he transitioned to Eric Curtis. The whole AeroDynamic team pitched in to help Dustin complete his goal of becoming a pilot. Special thanks to Jim Grant, Jen Delp-Mallet, David Waksberg, Jason Brown, and the other instructors who made this possible for him. Congrats, Dustin!!
“I started my training since Feb. 1, 2014 and had my first solo flight Sep. 13, 2015. I always wanted to fly but did not have the chance until I made several visits to ADA. I like the people here and I finally convinced myself and my family that this is something I need to do. My wife has been always supportive and she was my first passenger after I got my PPL. I got a lot help from ADA staff and instructors. I really appreciate it. I look forward to my life as a private pilot.” ~ Dustin

If you’ve been around our Reid-Hillview location within the past year, chances are you know SG already. He’s become a welcome part of the family, and we are proud to annouce he passed his Private Pilot checkride with flying colors on the first attempt with DPE Yuzo Wakita!
SG began training with David Pease, but he’s flown with almost all the instructors we have. Special thanks to Eric Curtis and Jen Delp-Mallet for helping SG stay on track and pushing him out of the nest. No more cross-country or 90-day solo endorsements, SG 😉 We are so proud of you! Now…onto instrument rating, commercial certificate and eventually CFI so you can teach with us.
New Private Pilot – Richard Lee

Starting early Monday morning, Richard met with Reid-Hillview examiner Yuzo Wakita for the Private Pilot checkride. Having spent a great deal of time studying and preparing for the practical test, he was in and out of his checkride in record time, passing with flying colors! Well done to both Richard and his instructor Jason. Richard has since been seen sharing his passion for flying – taking the people in his life out for flights around the bay. That’s what it’s all about 🙂

First Solo – Nick Gronendyke

Another young solo pilot takes to the skies! On Thursday, 17-year-old Nick fulfilled not just his dream of flying, but with Dad and Uncle watching, he also fulfilled their dream. Nick’s father always wanted to learn to fly, but his son is recognizing this dream for both of them. 
After reaching this benchmark of solo, Nick will continue on to earn his Private Pilot’s license. He eventually wants to go to an aviation college and fly professionally. We are so honored to be part of his flying journey! Congrats to Nick and CFI Jason for their hard work!
First Solo – Wes Hayward

Wes completed his first solo flight in our newly painted Cessna 968RC out of Salinas airport despite smoky conditions caused by the Soberanes fire in Big Sur. His flight instructor, Carol, watched proudly as he completed his first series of landings without her onboard. Congrats to them both for their hard work!
New Private Pilot – Samantha D’Costa

After soloing less than two months ago, Samantha earned her Private Pilot Certificate today with examiner Yuzo Wakita on her first attempt! She plans to fly a lot with her dad, John, throughout the summer, acting as his safety pilot. John earned his instrument rating with us and can now be found flying his beautiful Cirrus around the bay area. We are so honored to have trained this amazing and accomplished family of aviators! Happy flying to the both of you 😀
