Maule Transition Training
Our experienced instructors will
take your flying to another level!
Our Chief Instructor Jen flies her Maule M5 everywhere, including as far north as Fairbanks, Alaska, and throughout the Idaho backcountry. After racking up over 1,000 hours in Maules, she’s determined to share her love and knowledge of these incredibly capable aircraft. Joining her quest are very experienced tailwheel instructors – Scott Holland, Scott Williams, Philippe Sabbagh, and Michel Hoche-Mong – who all have impressive resumes.
If you are looking to transition to a Maule M5, M7 or M9, our team is happy to help you using our in-house transition course. We currently have three Maules (all IFR certified) available for training and rental at our Reid-Hillview location in San Jose, California.
- Maule M5-180C with dual G5s and Garmin GTN 650
- Maule M7-235 (out for new glass panel)
- Maule M9-260 with Garmin GI275, GTX345R, GTN 750 GPS, S-TEC autopilot, and CGR-30P engine monitors
Please see our RHV Aircraft page for current pricing and equipment, as well as our Documents webpage for POH/AFM, checklists, manuals, W&B, and more to arrive as prepared as possible.
Due to the high value of Maule aircraft and the dynamics of the training environment, we have a few policies in place to ensure everyone’s safety and coverage for the aircraft’s owners. Please review our Renter’s Agreement (found on our Documents webpage) for full details. Maule-specific requirements are as follows:
- Pilots transitioning to Maule must be proficient in tailwheel aircraft. If not, we recommend starting in our Citabria and then moving to the Maule once the instructor deems it appropriate.
- Pilots intending to rent aircraft after training must have insurance prior to beginning training.
- For M5 training & rental: renter’s insurance for a minimum of $50,000 liability, physical, and property coverage is required
- M7/M9 training & rental: renter’s insurance for a minimum of $100,000 liability, physical, and property coverage is required
- High-time and proficient tailwheel pilots who will be training dual-only may be considered for a waiver of the insurance requirements.
- ALL renters must understand that operating outside of AeroDynamic’s current Renter’s Agreement, or operating in a manner that can be constituted as careless or reckless per the Renter’s Agreement, means the renter is 100% liable for all costs associated with damage, liability, and aircraft replacement/repair value.
Give our office a call to schedule your Maule Transition Training with our experts. We can also incorporate a flight review, aircraft checkout, or IPC into the training. Our in-house maintenance shop currently maintains local Maules, and focuses on bush and STOL mods. On occasion we’ve even been known to fly out and help a pilot ferry their new-to-them Maule aircraft back home.
