New Multi-Engine Instructor – Petra Johansson Holland
Nov 27 2018Date: November 15, 2018
Certification: Multi-Engine Instructor
Aircraft: Twin Comanche N40DA
Instructor: Jen Watson
We are so pleased to have Petra flying with us and soon teaching with us! Petra and her husband Scott came to fly our Twin Comanche. Soon after, Scott began tailwheel with us, and Petra re-instated her CFI, CFII and added MEI to her list of flying capabilities. After a trip to her home in Finland, Petra will be back to teach future multi-engine students. Way to make a first-time pass of this checkride!

Aircraft: Citabria 9091L
Instructor: Scott Holland

“This is my second solo since soloing years ago at the age of 17, but this time it’s in a tailwheel aircraft. I’m looking forward to earning my PPL and continuing my flight training beyond.” ~ Randy
Flying solo is an incredible experience too few people ever realize. To get the experience twice is remarkably lucky. Go, Randy!!!
First Solo Flight – Bill Reed
Nov 08 2018Solo Date: October 30, 2018
Aircraft: Citabria 9081L
Instructor: Batelle Rachmian
Location: San Jose, CA (KRHV)
With a family history steeped in aviation roots, Bill decided it was time to buy an airplane and learn how to fly it. Years ago, he learned to fly an Aeronca Champ off a grass runway. On Oct 30, his solo dreams came true as he flew his Citabria 7GCAA around the pattern at Reid-Hillview Airport. Bill’s wife, a licensed pilot, has also been flying his plane to get current again after years of not flying. We are excited to see what kinds of adventures these two get up to soon!

“I really liked riding roller coasters when I was a kid, and flying gives me the same feeling as riding on a roller coaster: a sense of excitement and freedom. I hope soon I can do aerobatics and say the same line Maverick said in the movie Top Gun, ‘Because I was inverted.’ ” ~ Ruofan
New Private Pilot – Alex Teplixky
Sep 25 2018Date: September 16, 2018
Certification: Private Pilot
Instructor: Jason Brown
Aircraft: Citabria N9091L
While taking a sabbatical from work, and despite a month of travel during training, Alex completed an accelerated Private Pilot course in the Citabria and earned his license this month. Hard work and perseverance allowed him to achieve his goal. Special thanks to all the instructors who helped him get enough ground and flight hours to make this happen. Well done, Alex!!!
New Multi-Engine Pilot – Kelsey Moore
Sep 24 2018Date: September 15, 2018
Certification: Commercial Multi-Engine
Aircraft: Twin Comanche N40DA
Instructor: David Waksberg & Jen Watson
While most of us would be thrilled to pilot such a single-engine plane like the Pilatus, Kelsey just added multi-engine rating to her license so she can qualify for airline and corporate jobs. With a dedication to studying that most of us only dream of having, Kelsey completely rocked her Commercial Multi-Engine checkride with Eric. We are so proud! And to celebrate…she hopped into her first tailwheel flight and now has another passion to pursue. Welcome to the AeroDynamic family, Kelsey!

Three teenage pilots take to the sky!
Aug 01 2018One of our recent graduate’s mom snapped this photo of three 17-year-old Aerodynamic students (2 newly licensed private pilots and 1 student pilot) departing out of Monterey airport. Adam Shapiro is in the left seat, Katrina Espinoza is in the right (his safety pilot) and Sophia Taylor-Home is in the back seat. If you look closely, you can actually see clear silhouettes of 3 people inside the plane.
Adam earned his Private Pilot with us in Monterey back in December 2017. Katrina earned her license at our Reid-Hillview location in June 2018 thanks to a generous scholarship from AOPA (she won their High School scholarship in 2016 for $5000) and another scholarship from the 99s in 2018. Sophia is a current student pilot working hard to get to solo.
We are so proud of you all! This next generation of pilots work hard for their successes and prove you are never too young or too old to go after your dreams. We wish you all the best in your aviation careers!
