New Signs are up! Thanks to AeroDynamic CFI Rich Digrazzi, who is also an acomplished general contractor, we have our new signs up on the hangar.
Congratulations to Harrison Caudill and felicitations to Elizabeth Reuman who got maried April 10th. The first task after the ceremony was to jump into Citabria 5032G and do a ceremonial flight. Our best wishes to the couple and we wish them many happy flights together.

Cessna 172SP is now on line! N298CA, a 1997 Cessna 172, with a 180hp fuel injected engine, a KLN94 color moving map GPS, and autopilot is now on line. Initial price is $125 per hr (block equivalent rate $113.63 for 10% block). It is fast! It is powerful! It is two decades newer than the others! You will need a checkout, but I hope you will enjoy it.

Jan 31 2010Welcome to three pilots from Spain! Marco Fuente, Arkaitz de Sebastian and Gotzon Joyera are pilots from the Basque region of Spain who came to fly taildgraggers with us.
Congratulations to Mark Ledwith who passed his Sport Pilot flight test in the Evektor Sportstar 811EV and is now a fully certified pilot. Well done Mark.
A warm welcome to Pau Baltrons who came to get his tailwheel endorsement and build tailwheel time. Despite the weather he’s already managed to earn the endorsement. Well done Pau!
Flying Companion / Pinch Hitter course planned. We are planning a Pinch Hitter course for your non pilot flying companions. This is a day (around 6 hrs) of ground school based on the AOPA Air Safety Foundation’s Pinch Hitter course. Assuming we get a good response, the training will take place on Saturday Jan 30th and cost $99 for the day.
The instructor will be Patrik Rosenast, one of our more experienced CFIs, who also holds an ATP, jet type ratings, and Airframe and Powerplant mechanic’s certificate and flies both coprporate jets and small taildraggers and everything in between.

Thank you to everyone who came to the whalewatching flight! We had over 20 people in seven planes. We took over Del Monte’s ramp at MRY airport, we took over the Golden Tee restaurant, and we had a whale of a time. (Sorry couldn’t resist). Check out the pics on the AeroDynamic Facebook Album

We are putting together a whale watching flight on Sunday Dec 27th. Email us if you are interested. The plan is to fly down to Monterey, have lunch at the Golden Tee and then fly down the coast towards Big Sur looking for migrating gray whales. Alternatively folks could fly down the coat first, then come and meet for lunch at 12 noon. I need the numbers so I can book the restaurant (and the planes). Plane owners are welcome to come in their own planes too.
Last year we saw not only whales but a pod of dolphins too!

We had a greatly successful Trike Day, with a hangar full of attendees for the seminar and two full day of flying intro flights. We have now added the Trike and Pete Marsh to Schedulemaster so anyone can easily book a flight or take a course of lessons. The Antares Ranger has an 80hp Rotax 912, and has a two place ntercom and radio so it can be flown into towered airports. The wing is designed for +6/-2g so it is stronger than many airplanes.
Bonnie Ritchey and AeroDynamic instructor Jerod Flohr brought Bonnie’s new Pitts all the way from Iowa. Well done. Bonnie is now checking out, first to solo the new bird, then to start competing in acrobatic contests.
Congratulations to AeroDynamic pilot Ivan Mozara and his new bride Tanja Bagoje on their wedding in Croatia. We hope this won’t put too much of a crimp on the flying!

Cessna 150 Aerobat on line! We now have N6029J on line. She is a Cessna 150 Aerobat just like Amelia used to fly, even painted a similar scheme. The rate is $99 list by tach time, which is at least 10% less than Hobbs time, so the actual cost is less than $90, and another 10% discount is possible through paying through our block arrangement for a cost of around $80 per hour!
Alon Kfir earned his private pilot certificate with examiner Sharry Diamond after flight raining with Rimas. Congratulations to Alon and Rimas!

We are delighted to announce that our own maintenance guru, Al Cermak has been awarded the FAA Charles Taylor Master Mechanic award. According to the FAA’s own Advisory Circular AC65-26C the Charles Taylor Master Mechanic Award is the most prestigious award the FAA issues to persons certificated under Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations, part 65. This award is named after Charles Taylor, the first aircraft mechanic, to recognize individuals who have spent over 50 years in the aircraft maintenance profession as Master Mechanics. We could not think of a more deserving guy. Well done Al!

Kudos to the San Jose State Precision Flight Team who placed third in the regional competition in Salinas, and are going on to the nationals. Here’s a description of what the competition is. You can help with fundraising too as the students receive no money whatsoever from the University, they have to raise it all through their own efforts.

The AeroDynamic Acrobatic Team is taking shape. We have 14 members so far. Jenny Koenig set up a Yahoo group / email list. Anyone interested, please follow the AeroDynamic Acrobatic Team link and sign up. You’ll then get any messages we send out about events, technique, and whatever else, and be able to post your own.
