On our Web site, you’ll find our Customer Appreciation Quiz. Real questions which will challenge, educate and amuse you. And real prizes – a $100 gift card for Harris Ranch Restaurant Inn and Shop, “The Proficient Pilot” boxed set of three books by Barry Schiff, and three AeroDynamic T-shirts.
Who can try the quiz? Anyone, but not everyone can win.
Who can win? Any customer who has flown with us during 2011.
Who cannot win? Staff and families of AeroDynamic Aviation, or anyone who has not flown with us in 2011. But of course you can still try the quiz and maybe win bragging rights for your erudition.
Other rules are on the Quiz Web page. Quiz closes midnight PST on Dec 25 and results will be announced on Dec 27.
Enjoy!

New Pilot: Mikhail Nikonchuk
Dec 03 2011From the cold winter of St Petersburg in Russia, Mikhail Nikonchuk came to sunny California to finish his Private Pilot training. Despite sunny turning more into foggy and windy California, he managed it!
Mikhail took his checkride with Examiner Vince Nastro in Cessna 98485.
Congratulations Mikhail, and thanks to Instructors Erik Schmidt, Rich Digrazzi and Dick Chang. All worked hard together to make the best use of the time and the weather.
Going Solo: William Lo
Nov 25 2011On a beautiful sunny morning, while his instructor, Jim Grant, waited below, William Lo made three great take offs and landings in Citabria N1806G. William is the latest AeroDynamic Aviation student to fly solo!
Congratulations to William and Jim!
New Instrument Pilot: Andy Werback
Nov 24 2011Congratulations to Andy Werback who passed his Instrument Rating checkride in Cessna 54102.
Well done Andy, and thanks also go to AeroDynamic Instructor Erik, with help also from Rich, Sergey and Dick.
Andy escaped before we could pose him in front of the plane, so here’s a picture of him holding the Bronze Lindy he captured at Oshkosh.
Stop press: we managed to catch Andy and photograph him in full IFR gear ready to tackle the clouds 😉
New Private Pilot: Stephane Dahan
Nov 23 2011We have a brand new certified Private Pilot!
Congratulations to Stephane Dahan, who passed his checkride with Examiner Sherry Diamond, on a fine Tuesday morning in Citabria 5032G.
Well done Stephane, and also well done to his AeroDynamic instructor Mark Guerrero.
Going Solo: Matt Claudius
Nov 22 2011Congratulations to Matt Claudius, who took to the skies on his own for the first time on November 20, 2011.
While his watchful CFI, Rich Digrazzi, paced the ramp, Matt took Citabria 9091L for three successful takeoffs and landings.”
New Taildragger Pilot: Lee Barker
Nov 20 2011Congratulations to Lee Barker who successfully added a tailwheel endorsement to his logbook. Well done Lee and AeroDynamic Instructor Mark Guerrero.
Going Solo: Mark Nelson
Nov 13 2011On a beautiful late afternoon, Mark Nelson shook off his instructor and took Cessna 61637 up for three great landings.
Congratulations Mark, and well done also to AeroDynamic instructors Jen Delp-Mallet and Erik Schmidt.
And here is the video of Mark’s first landing. We really need to teach our CFIs to use the zoom settings 😉 , but it is beautiful anyway:
NOTAM: DoD testing, who knows what, who knows where, but pilots beware!
Nov 13 2011The following NOTAM has been circulated by the FAA:
!FDC 1/4311 ZLA FI/T … SPECIAL NOTICE … SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA COASTLINE. EFFECTIVE 1111141730-1111180130 UTC. AIRCRAFT OPERATORS ARE ADVISED THAT THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE WILL BE CONDUCTING TESTING IN THE WARNING AREAS ADJACENT TO THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA COASTLINE. AFTER A REVIEW OF THE IMPACTED AREAS AND THE DOD OPERATIONS BEING CONDUCTED, ANALYSIS INDICATES A LOW LIKELIHOOD OF IMPACT TO AVIATION. HOWEVER, IN THE INTEREST OF FLIGHT SAFETY, PILOTS/FLIGHT CREW MEMBERS EXPERIENCING ANOMALIES TO ANY FLIGHT DECK SYSTEM, IN PARTICULAR TCAS, SHOULD REPORT THEM IMMEDIATELY TO ATC. FAA HEADQUARTERS, AIR TRAFFIC SYSTEMS OPERATIONS SECURITY, 202-493-5107, IS THE FAA COORDINATION FACILITY.
What does it mean? Sounds like some sort of electronic devices are going to be tested and there may be intereference with cockpit systems. The reference to TCAS suggests that they will be using something to do with radar.
Be careful up there!
Going Solo: Hrishikesh Mehendale
Oct 26 2011Another fledgling leaves the nest!
Hrishikesh Mehendale soloed Citabria 9091L under CFI Jim Grant’s watchful eye.
Having completed three complete circuits in the pattern, Hrishikesh was back on terra firma as a newly fledged pilot.
Congratulations and well done to Hrishi and CFI Jim.
